Over the past year, the G-PACT staff has been working hard to pull this new organization together. It has been a learning process for all of us, but we now see that we will soon be able to start working towards our major goals. Every participant in G-PACT has a personal connection to gastroparesis in some manner and that is what motivates us. We have established a timeline of the past year to demonstrate the process to those not directly involved March 2001- Ideas about starting a non-profit organization began circulating among a few members in an online support group June 2001- Talks of starting an organization became serious among a few people. We discussed ideas informally, began selecting officers and board members, the location for our home office in Lewisberry, PA, and thinking through name ideas. July 27, 2001- The name "G-PACT" was selected. We purchased our domain name and began finalizing our bylaws, goal ideas, structure plans, and other vital issues. Aug. 23, 2001- Articles of Incorporation were hand-carried to the Department of State in Harrisburg, PA making G-PACT an official organization Aug. 27, 2001- Notice of non-profit corporation published in the York Dispatch in York, PA Sept. 4, 2001- G-PACT obtained an EIN (employer identification number) from the IRS Sept. 17, 2001- Notice of non-profit corporation published in the York Legal Journal Sept. 2001- G-PACT logo and graphics work is created by a designer in Louisiana Sept. 30, 2001- Conclusion of our first fiscal year (abbreviated) Oct. 1, 2001- Beginning of our new fiscal year Oct. 4, 2001- G-PACT set up our banking account in Bellefontaine, OH (home of the financial officer) Oct.-Dec. 2001- Officers and Directors began compiling
information for our graphics work, brochures, packets of information,
letters, and other publications. The G-PACT website was started, and
